Settlement Information

Cash

  • Cash transactions (also referred to as ON on ScotiaFX) or sameday value transactions in USD/CAD must be transacted prior to 5pm EST to ensure proper settlement and good value. ScotiaFX cannot execute sameday value transactions for any other currencies.

    Please note that at 5:00 p.m. EST, the trade date will advance to the next business day.

Spot

  • Market convention for USD/CAD trades dictates settlement for the next business day. For example a trade done on a Friday would settle on the following Monday.
  • For all other currencies (both against the USD and against CAD) market convention is two business days settlement. For example a GBP/CAD trade executed on a Friday would settle on the following Tuesday and a USD/JPY trade executed on a Thursday would settle on the following Monday.
  • Trades must be settled on ScotiaFX and all settlement instructions must be received by 5:00 p.m. EST the day prior to the value date of the trade to ensure proper settlement and good value.

Forward Contracts

  • Forward Contracts can be booked up to a maximum of one year subject to your credit terms. On ScotiaFX you can book forward contracts with an optional delivery period up to a maximum of thirty days.
  • Trades must be settled on ScotiaFX and all settlement instructions must be received by 5:00 p.m. EST the day prior to the value date of the trade to ensure proper settlement and good value.

Drawdowns

  • To drawdown a contract during the optional delivery period you must contact ScotiaFX to do so. For North American Clients please call 1-888-660-6168 for UK/European Clients please dial your International Access Code +800-2283-3554. This information will not be reflected in the online Deal Listings.
  • Trades must be settled on ScotiaFX and all settlement instructions must be received by 5:00 p.m. EST the day prior to the value date of the trade to ensure proper settlement and good value.
